The Santa Rita Lodge sponsors nature programs during peak birding season, March through May or by appointment. Tour groups are guided by experienced, trained professionals and limited to insure maximum benefit.

• Fee - $20 fee per person. Additional charge for less than three.

• Walks begin at 7:00 AM and last approximately 4 hours.

Walks are scheduled for the following dates:  May 7, 16, 17 and 23.  Please call in advance if you plan to attend.  Occasionally walks are canceled.  

The best source for information on what birds to see here and when to see them is the "Friends of Madera Canyon". Their website is www.friendsofmaderacanyon.org.

On March 17 our Elf Owl returned with a bang.  He smashed into our gift shop window.  He was stunned for a few minutes, but then flew up into the trees.  See the second and third images below.
